Originally founded in 1906, Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky now serves as a private Christian university offering more than 80 majors and certificates. Campbellsville University offers online social work degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Campbellsville’s Carver School of Social Work opened in 1974 with the university’s first social work program. Today, the Carver School offers social work degrees, minors, and certificates on multiple campuses and online.

Campbellsville University Carver School of Social Work

The Carver School of Social Work at Campbellsville University originally opened in the mid-1970s, offering a bachelor of science in social work. The program continued this way until the early 1990s, when students and faculty at the university made the case for establishing a recognized, accredited social work program at Campbellsville. The school began the application process with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and earned accreditation in 2001.

The Carver School of Social Work aims to prepare students for professional practice, emphasizing Christian-centered values and service to the greater community. The bachelor’s and master’s programs provide students with the skills to effectively work with and advocate for diverse populations.

Campbellsville University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Campbellsville University and Carver School of Social Work programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Online Social Work Programs

Campbellsville University offers an online master of social work and a bachelor’s in social work. Students can complete both programs entirely online, with no on-campus requirements. Distance learners may elect to participate in an online classroom that allows them to interact with faculty and fellow students through video chat; however, coursework is generally completed asynchronously.

The bachelor’s program requires 120 credits, and students may select three electives or focus areas to tailor their degree. The master’s program requires 60 credits, including 18 practicum hours completed in the student’s local community. For admission to the online programs, applicants must meet the same standards as on-campus students.

On-Campus Social Work Programs

Students can also earn both the BSW and MSW on-campus at Campbellsville. Both the online and on-campus BSW hold the same degree and credit requirements, including the in-person practicum. All students in both programs must meet the same general education requirements.

The on-campus MSW program requires 60 credits with two available tracks: advanced standing and clinical. Both track options make up 30 of the 60 required credits. Generally, students can complete the on-campus program in 21 months of full-time enrollment.
