King University Social Work Programs

King University is a Presbyterian-affiliated school that started educating Christian leaders in 1867 as King College. The name came from Reverend James King, a prominent minister in the area. Today, the King campus covers 135 wooded acres in Bristol, Tennessee, and prides itself on offering a robust liberal-arts foundation for all undergraduate majors. King also offers several graduate degrees and encourages students at all levels to participate in research.
King University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the social work programs offered by the School of Health and Professional Sciences are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Online Social Work Programs
King offers a social work program online at the bachelor’s level. As a degree completion program, it comprises 52 of the 120 credits that schools require for bachelor’s degrees. Applicants must already possess at least 45 credits from accredited schools. While online students do not need to go to the Tennessee campus, they must complete in-person practicums at approved organizations. The number of hours learners need depends on the states they want to earn licensure in. Online and in-person students must gain admission to King before applying to the program.
On-Campus Social Work Programs
King offers the same social work program online and on campus, and the admissions requirements, curricula, and faculty remain the same for both offerings. Full-time students complete their degrees in just 16 months. Those who require more time due to work and family commitments can choose to take courses part time. On-campus learners take two of the courses online with their distance education classmates; these courses last 15 weeks and use a quest-style format.
