Online Social Work Programs

The University of Utah’s College of Social Work features programs with an online option, allowing students flexibility as they complete their degree. Through online programs offered on a full- or part-time basis, students may earn a bachelor in social work (BSW) or master of social work (MSW). Students can complete all of their coursework online; however, some courses may require a proctored exam at an approved location. The U’s BSW requires 48 program credits and the completion of a practicum, while the MSW requires 45 credits. Students may also take advantage of distance learning with the Ph.D. in social work.

Through the distance program, students may remotely log in during specific class times and attend classes synchronously with other students. This allows students to receive the same education as on-campus students. The University of Utah admits online students and on-campus students in the same manner, so the former do not need special permission to enroll in online courses.

On-Campus Social Work Programs

The University of Utah offers the same classes on campus as it does online. These programs include a bachelor of social work, master in social work, and a Ph.D. in social work. Students may also pursue the bachelor’s or master’s degrees in a hybrid style, taking both on-campus and online courses.
